What drives us

The Altitudes Foundation operates under the aegis of Fondation Caritas France: a choice guided by conviction.
Joining Fondation Caritas France means embracing values we deeply share—humanistic principles dedicated to fighting poverty and exclusion. The strength of the ecosystem of foundations hosted by Fondation Caritas France, combined with its flexibility in serving projects above all else, allows us to move “faster and further, together.”

Driven by a strong belief in the power of education to transform lives, we established this foundation to promote equal opportunities in education across France. Rooted in our values and committed to breaking down barriers, the foundation aims to empower young people to reach their full potential, regardless of their background.  We want to remain optimistic, determined, and pragmatic.

Our educational system is at an inflection point

Decline in Academic Performance

The French education system no longer guarantees the success of all students. National and international assessments show a decline in reading, math, and science levels over the past 20 years. Every year, 90,000 young people leave school without a qualification (high school diploma or professional certification). These dropouts account for 90% of young people facing social and professional integration challenges*.

Rising Educational Inequalities

France is one of the OECD countries with the highest level of educational inequality. Students in schools located in low-income areas are 1.7 times more likely to be at risk of dropping out compared to those in other schools. The increased use of private education by more privileged families exacerbates educational segregation and widens achievement gaps.

Deteriorating Working Conditions for Teachers

The teaching profession attracts fewer candidates, mainly due to low recognition and challenging working conditions. Additionally, teachers highlight the inadequacy and difficulty in accessing training, as well as the lack of dedicated time for professional development.

of teachers, especially younger ones, report feeling burnout and a profound sense of isolation.

We must invest in our youth and the teachers who support them

We firmly believe that a more inclusive, purpose-driven, and transformative education is vital for fostering social cohesion, enhancing employability, and broadening students’ perspectives on the world and its diverse needs. We are committed to dedicating our experience and energy to this mission—quietly, but with impactful results.

The Ministry of National Education, through numerous programs and initiatives, as well as a network of associations, is already doing remarkable work to support at-risk youth. However, these efforts remain insufficient.

The Ministry of National Education, a central pillar of any educational endeavor, needs external support to overcome the challenge of ensuring academic success for the most disadvantaged students.

Our Story

Olivier Camino

Empowering social entrepreneurs to scale their initiatives and amplify their impact on society.
“I am deeply convinced that a more inclusive and transformative education is a key pillar for building social harmony and employability. “

As one of the founders and acting Global Chief Operating Officer of Foundever, I’ve had the privilege of helping shape the customer experience management industry for over 30 years. I co-founded Groupe Acticall in France and have since been dedicated to building high-performing teams and driving operational excellence on a global scale.

Passionate about people, education and social entrepreneurship, I set up Foundever.org, our non-profit organization, providing educational and skill-building opportunities to underserved communities worldwide.
Joining the Ashoka network ten years ago allowed me to support social entrepreneur Frédéric Bardeau, founder of Simplon.co, and advocate for greater inclusion in the digital sector.

To expand this commitment, I recently launched the Altitudes Foundation, dedicated to promoting equal educational opportunities in France. I believe that investing in education is crucial for fostering social cohesion and equipping the next generation with the skills needed to thrive in a complex world.

Living in the US for the last 8 years now, I strive to serve as a bridge between France and the US leveraging my experience to create synergies that benefit both countries. I am also honored to serve as President of the U.S Education Foundation of Skema Business School, to provide scholarships for students facing financial challenges.

Dorothée Dalaine

I see education as a beacon of hope—an investment in the younger generation who will inherit the complex challenges of our time.

My interest in sociology and economics has been with me for as long as I can remember. Even as a child, I was acutely aware of the socio-economic backgrounds around me, often wondering about the luck and circumstances others faced—and how different my life might have been to come from a different background. Over time, I came to see firsthand how these socio-economic factors shape children’s futures, setting the course of their lives in ways they don’t always have control over.

This is why preventing school dropouts and promoting equal educational opportunities resonate so deeply with me. I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have had a caring environment and two remarkable teachers who changed the course of my life, inspiring me to pursue my goals. Now, it’s my turn to give back.

With 15 years of experience in entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship, I’ve developed expertise in digital transformation, experience design, program development, partnership management, and human capital. I am now fully dedicated to applying these skills—along with my creativity and energy—to advancing the mission of the Altitudes Foundation.

For me, the Altitudes Foundation is my way of focusing on improving educational experiences. I see education as a beacon of hope, an investment in the younger generation who will inherit the complex challenges of our times. And I choose to stay optimistic. Education needs a human-centered approach, and I am thrilled to put my heart and energy into this cause.
